- Safely Home
- A challenging story of how things really are in China.
- Edge of Eternity
- Pilgrim's Progress for the 1990s (2000s now, I guess!). Interesting, inspiring, challenging. A good read.
- Lord Foulgrin's Letters
- Unapologetically imitating CS Lewis' ''The Screwtape Letters' to provide a modern tome in this genre.
- The Ishbane Conspiracy
- How the enemy is attacking kids by drawing on their spiritual hunger.
- Deadline
- .
- Dominion
- A very enlightening book on racism, specifically on how the US looks through a black businessman's eyes.
- Consider Phlebas
- The war between a society that provides for an idyllic life by co-habitating with computers, and a society that believes in its own superiority. Horza sides against the machines, simply because he prefers life, in any form, to that of machines.
- Eon
- ...
- Cosm
- An interesting insight into the world of a research academic at a University. Anita Butterworth discovers a scientific breakthrough and it consumes her focus until the very end.
- Roaring Lambs
- Roaring Lambs is one man's call to change the world, simply by being the salt in the workplace, the marketplace and daily "secular" life.
- Think Big
- Inspirational reading from the author of 'Gifted Hands'(?). Dr Carson articulates his outlook/life perspective, as given in numerous speeches across the US.
- Well of Souls
- A series based around all life-forms in the Universe living on the one planet ('the original earth?') and how they relate to one another.
- Sexual Integrity
- The Bitterbynde: The Ill-Made Mute
- A compelling tale set in (mostly) medieval times, drawing on the rich mythology of England.
- The Bitterbynde: The Lady of the Sorrows
- The second part of the three-part series, equally compelling as its predecessor. I personally had a 'rhema' experience when I realised one important part of the plot a mere page before it happened :-)
- The Bitterbynde: The Battle of Evernight
- Due in 2003
- Take Your Glory Lord, The Life Story of William Duma
- A powerful story about a humble man who totally yielded himself to God, with remarkable results. An interesting mix of the lands of tribal peoples and the modern world that challenged me both to be more authentic and to be more humble.
- The Negotiator
- The first book in the O'Malley series, introducing us to a very different but very active family!
- The Guardian
- Marcus O'Malley finds himself mixing business and pleasure when he takes on the protection of a senior judge's daughter
- The Truth Seeker
- The Protector
- Jack O'Malley faces the hard road of pursuing an arsonist who is pursuing him and his firefighting team.
- The Healer
- The Rescuer
- Phantastes
- ...
- This Present Darkness
- Piercing The Darkness

Non-Discworld Books:
- Good Omens
- Strata
- The Dark Side of the Sun
- Truckers
- Diggers
- Wings
- Only You Can Save Mankind
- Another TP kids book that I still enjoyed reading. A satire/parody of computer shoot 'em ups and Alien-style movies, little Johnny's computer game comes to life and he finds himself facing an fleet of space aliens that don't want to fight!
- The Carpet People
- The Unadulterated Cat
- I haven't found this one yet. When I remember, I'll ask at the JML
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
- I think the book was less disturbing than the movie, although I enjoyed both
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- Has a couple of disturbing scenes. Not necessarily a book I'd want kids reading
- Book 5
- I wonder how long she'll wait before she releases it?!
- Out of the Silent Planet
- .
- Perelandra
- .
- That Hideous Strength
- .
- The Dark Tower
[ Not read yet! ]- .
- What makes Sammy run?
- Are you a Sammy, racing to the top? Intriguing how timeless this classic tale of corporate ambition is.
I'm always looking for more good fiction books to read. My friends have recommended the following authors/books:
